Itinerary:

  • 09:00-12:00 You will be greeted at Warnemünde port, where your cruise ship docks. Your driver will take you to Berlin, where you will be joined by one of our professional guides
  • 12:00-12:30 In Berlin, our tour begins on Museum Island. Here you will meet with your guide who will give you an overview of the history of Berlin
  • 12:30-13:30 You will then drive down scenic Unter den Linden past the former ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’, Bebelplatz (the Book Burning Square), Gendarmenmarkt and, of course, Checkpoint Charlie
  • 13:30-14:00 After a brief stop for photos the tour continues on to the Berlin Wall, the former headquarters of the SS and Gestapo, the Topography of Terror and Potsdamer Platz. In striking contrast to the sprawling Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe made up of 2,711 concrete stelae, a nondescript parking lot marks the site where Hitler took his own life in his bunker in April of 1945. Here, once again, you will get a chance to stretch your legs and take photos as you stroll through the Memorial, Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz as well as the German Parliament, the Reichstag
  • 14:00-14:30 Free time for lunch
  • 14:30-15:30 After lunch, you will drive through the central park of Berlin, the Tiergarten. We will pass the Soviet War Memorial, the House of World Cultures, the Presidential Palace Bellevue, and the Victory Column on the way to the former American Sector. The bombed Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is the main attraction of West Berlin but you will also drive down Berlin’s main shopping boulevard — the Kurfürstendamm — and past the largest department store in continental Europe — the KaDeWe. From here you will get a chance to rest and recharge your batteries on the 45-minute drive to Potsdam
  • 15:30-18:00 On the way in we will see the notorious “Bridge of Spies” – Glienicke Bridge, best known for the exchange of spies, one of whom was Gary Powers, the US spy-plane pilot shot down in 1960. Once we arrive in Potsdam, the tour starts in the old town where you will see the original Brandenburg Gate and the quaint pedestrian shopping area it has become famous for. The next stop is the Sanssouci Palace, built for Prussia’s most beloved monarch — Frederick the Great. From here the tour continues past the Dutch Quarter to the Cecilienhof Palace — site of the Potsdam Conference of 1945. It was here that the zones of occupation in Germany and Berlin were finalised by the victorious powers
  • 18:00-21:00 As the tour ends, your driver will take you back to the ship
