Experience one of Russia’s renowned ballets at a top St Petersburg theatre with our Russian Ballet booking service. There are plenty of choices at different prices to suit every taste and budget.

The oldest theatre in the city, the Mariinsky Theatre, has earned its name as the city’s best stage for ballet and opera. Performances are held in the lavishly decorated old stage, where shows were once attended by the royal family, and on the new stage, a more modern venue frequently used for musical events.

The Mikhailovsky Theatre first opened its doors in the 19th century, bringing together the St Petersburg high society and guests of the royal family. The theatre didn’t have its own troupe and mostly hosted visiting performers from Europe and other Russian theatres. Following the revolution, the theatre started establishing its own identity, forming a troupe and gaining its fame as the main stage for Soviet opera.

The Hermitage Theatre originally was an in-house theatre built under the order of Empress Catherine the Great. Located inside the Winter Palace, now known as the Hermitage Museum, the theatre hosted parties for Russian nobility, often involving balls, masquerades and even the nobles themselves taking the stage. The theatre is not accessible via the Hermitage Museum as it has its own entrance and requires a separate ticket. Please note that at the Hermitage Theatre there is no allocated seating so arrive early for a better choice of seats.

After booking a show date our managers will inform you of the shows available on that particular evening. Among the frequently staged ballets are The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Firebird, La Sylphide and many others.

The convenient concierge service delivers tickets to your hotel reception and, if requested, organises a return transfer to the theatre.
