Tsarskoye Selo is a gorgeous town near St Petersburg where millions of tourists visit the Catherine Palace ensemble and Alexander Park but you will see not only them! The tour starts at the Vitebsk Train Station — a gorgeous example of Imperial Modern architecture. With a guide, you take a train to Tsarskoye Selo. Tickets are included in the price!
When you get to the Tsarskoye Selo, the first destination is a local market — Gostinny Dvor. It’s been popular among locals for centuries and hasn’t changed much. Stalls and small shops give a very good impression what locals actually buy and eat. You can try honey, bakery, and cheese.
Next stop — Theodore Sovereign’s Cathedral and the White Tower in Alexander Park. Both places are not too touristy and very exciting. The cathedral used to be one of the favorites among the Royal Romanov Family and the White Tower was a playground and training center for Russian Dukes.
Then you go to the Chinese bridges and gates in Alexander Park — an unusual contrast to Baroque Palaces around.
You will also see the famous Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum where Alexander Pushkin studied and graduated. Finally, you will see the Grand Catherine Palace complex. Our tour includes tickets to the Catherine Park but not the Catherine Palace. When you get there, you can choose any palace to go on your own because there are plenty of them. The guide will show all the options possible.
You will go back to St Petersburg by public transport and Metro
