The Yusupov Palace is the former residence of a Russian aristocratic family, which was among the richest and most affluent of its time. Some say their wealth was even greater than that of the ruling Romanov family.
Since the 19th century, several generations of the Yusupov family lived in this palace, but the turbulent times of the 1917 revolution were destructive to their life and to their wealth. Many valuable artworks disappeared from the palace, but unlike many other aristocratic residences, the Yusupov Palace interiors were miraculously preserved, making it a unique and fascinating place to visit.
The tour will take you through the luxurious interiors of their former St Petersburg home, decorated with fine detail, each room bearing its own identity. You will also learn about the mysterious death of Russian mystic Grigory Rasputin who was murdered in the basement of the Yusupov Palace in 1916.
