The magnificent residence of Catherine the Great is on the «must see» list of most visitors coming to Saint Petersburg. However, not too many have a chance to combine a traditional museum tour with unique off-the-beaten track experience of a trip to the city suburbs by train in a company of a local guide.
Your tour starts at the hotel reception at 9:00 a.m. or 3.00 p.m. The guide meets you with a sign Marina Wilson Private Tours or one with your name on it. First, you will travel with your guide to Vitebsky railway station and then you will take a train to Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin) — the town where the Catherine Palace is located. From the station to the palace you can take a bus or walk (it’s about 15 minutes).
The comprehensive tour of the residence includes the famous Amber Room, lavishly decorated baroque interiors of the palace reception halls and the palace park.
Catherine Palace was the second summer Imperial residence, initially built for the daughter of Peter the Great, the Empress Elizabeth I.
When the Catherine Palace tour ends you can enjoy the walk through the baroque gardens and then travel back to the city by bus or train. The guide accompanies you to the closest metro station in the city and makes sure you know how to travel back to your hotel. The price includes all admission tickets and transport fees.
