Itinerary:
- Meet your guide at the corner of St Isaac’s Square and Vosnesensky Prospekt at 12:00 p.m.
- Your tour will start near the Astoria hotel, an outstanding work of architecture with modern interiors and top-class service. No wonder the street it is on, Bolshaya Morskaya Street, became a popular place for the nobility to go shopping and was nicknamed Diamond Street. There were 25 jewelry shops on the street.
- Then we will stop at the former site of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of the Arts where many famous artists displayed their best paintings and artworks. It was here that Karl Faberge selected his team of jewellers.
- Next stop — Karl Faberge’s studio where his workshop produced earrings, necklaces, gifts decorated with gold, diamonds and amber.
- Approaching the Faberge Museum you will see the Elyseevy Shop — an Art Nouveau masterpiece. It belonged to a merchant family which severely suffered from the revolution of 1917. After the revolution, the shop went into a complete decay and was revived only in 2012.
- Finally, you will visit the Faberge Museum. During your hour-long tour, you will see Faberge eggs that were owned by the Romanov family and many other items from Faberge’s workshop: miniatures, tableware, porcelain, stained-glass work.
