The usual pick up time for Berlin private and group tours is 30 minutes after your cruise ship docks in the port of Warnemunde (unless we inform you of a different pick up time which will be stated in your tour confirmation). Your English-speaking driver will be meeting you at the dock with your name sign. The drive to Berlin is approximately 2,5 hours depending on traffic conditions but this is your chance to admire magnificent scenery of Northern Germany.
You start your acquaintance with the city in former Western Berlin and your first stop is Charlottenburg Palace. The gorgeous baroque palace was built in 1695 and up to now is a real masterpiece of German architecture.
Go on touring Berlin with its political center – the Reichstag! The building was badly damaged during the WWII and later restored by famous architects. Nearby you can find another well-known symbol of Berlin and Germany, the Brandenburg Gate. On our way to the Berlin highlights, we will enjoy touring Unter den Linden Boulevard, the famous avenue with plenty of cafes and shops. Our next stop is the Museum Island and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Not far from the ensemble there is the Victory Column and Berlin Cathedral. And now it is time for sad pages of German history: Third Reich Period and Cold War Era. Hermann Göring’s Aviation Ministry and Former site of Hitler’s Bunker were preserved as a remembrance of all the evil of the WWII. We continue our historical tour and get closer to Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, symbols of divided Germany and separated people of Eastern and Western parts of the country. East Berlin section continues by visiting Alexanderplatz, Red City Hall and Humboldt University.
On your way back to the ship you will see some of modern Berlin. Certainly you’ll be charmed by its Potsdamerplatz and Kurfurstendamm Avenue, best known as Berlin’s Champs Elysees.
